Industry Specific ComplianceThe Bar Council of India (BCI) on October 21, 2025, issued a warning against Unregistered India-Foreign Law Firm Collaborations.

The following has been stated: -

•The Bar Council of India, following its statement before the Delhi High Court, has withdrawn its earlier press release (dated Aug 05, 2025) and warned against unregistered collaborations between Indian and foreign law firms.

•It reaffirmed that any joint branding, referral, or Verein-style structure implying integrated practice in India requires registration under the Bar Council of India Rules for Registration and Regulation of Foreign Lawyers and Foreign Law Firms in India, 2023 (amended 2025).

•Show-cause notices have been issued to involved entities, with possible action under the Advocates Act, 1961, for professional misconduct.
